Zeebo – Guitar/Lead Vocals – Moved to Los Angeles from Belize. His primary musical influence has been Bob Marley. His incredible vocal sound and guitar playing demonstrates how this influence has been instilled in his heart. His thanks and praise to Jah is also expressed in his music and life. Jomo- Drummer/Vocals- was born in the Virgin Islands. He came the United States and settled in California. Here, he met musicians who had a great influence on him, in particular, a drummer named Shaka Man. Mentoring under Shaka Man, Jomo developed his talent as a drummer and experienced playing as a professional drummer in bands such as Roots of David, Judgment Day Band, Zev ad the Raven Band, just to name a few. Jomo is one of the founding members of Roots and Thunder where he continues to spread the message and powerful vibe of reggae music.
Sly - Guitar /Vocals - Born in Ohio USA in a time when diversity in music was little to none, top 40 and Rock were the only music formats radio offered at the time. Sly was exposed to a whole new world of music once he left Ohio. Even though he picked around with the guitar while in Ohio, after leaving, he began sharpened his guitar skills by mastering various genres of music including Jazz, Rock, Funk, R & B, Hi Life and Reggae. He is one of the founding members of Roots and Thunder.
Albert Dawson- Percussion- Albert is from a small village outside Belize City. He was raised listening to music and getting inspiration from; Dick Jones, Banard Flowers, and John Jones. He moved to the USA when he was in his 30s, where he enjoyed playing reggae with several bands. He has played at numerous events and venues, and loves being on stage. A few of his highlights are playing at the playboy mansion, performing in Washington D.C., House of Blues, in Thailand, and many places in America. Albert always wants to learn more and is always excited to play music.
Keith Russell- Keyboard – Keith hails from Kingston, Jamaica. His roots and foundation dates back to his teenage years as a student in a technical high school in his hometown of Kingston. He first learned to sing and play piano by hanging around the school piano with his school mates during the break periods. A tremendous amount of daily practice time was accrued during those high school years. However, the major goal in life at that time was a career in electrical engineering, and music was not seen as a practical option. At age 20 he headed to the U.S., to start a new life as a college student pursuing a degree in engineering, From being consciously engaged in the black liberation struggles, to conversion into a Rastafarian musician lifestyle; the music bug from high school days reemerged, and led beyond merely jamming with high school classmates, to now forming an actual real band with other college students. That first band, an R&B band opened the door to what would become an endless decade, long journey of jam sessions, gigging, and formation of several bands throughout the years.
Buck– Bass /Vocals- Born in Belize and came to the US to be with his family in the mid 80’s. Buck first started playing on his own but later decided to get formal instruction. That combination of his natural instincts and music training gives him his unique sound that few other bass players can emulate. His influences include Jaco Pastorius and Motown great James Jamerson.
Roots and Thunder's potent, magical music is everywhere; on the airwaves, the sound systems, jukeboxes, iPod and ring tones. This music could only have been created from only one source: the streets we come from today and the reality of these last days we live in. Preserving this their creed in hymns of righteousness until JAH come to take us home to heavenly Mt. ZION. The roots and rhythm of working people and the melodies of cries to the HIGHEST ,the poetry of a suffering humanity, relating the necessity of social freedom, the beauty of artistic freedom and the ultimate quest for spiritual freedom and eternal life itself. ALL PRAISE, POWER, GLORY, HONOR AND DOMINION BE UNTO THE MOST HIGH HOLY AND ETERNAL MOTHER JERUSALEM WHO ONLY GIVES LIFE ETERNAL. KNOW THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH WILL MAKE YOU FREE.
JAH LIVE CHILDREN AND HIS WORDS LIVETH IN I AND I FOR IVAH MORE.
BLESSINGS EVERMORE CHILDREN!!!
